OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY

What is occupational therapy?

Occupational therapy helps you solve, prevent or minimize difficulties that interfere with your ability to complete meaningful activities and everyday tasks like taking care of yourself at home, going to work or other activities.

How can occupational therapy help me?

Working with an occupational therapist can help you regain your independence and ability to complete meaningful activities and everyday tasks.

What to expect from our occupational therapy services?

Our occupational therapists conduct a comprehensive assessment and develop a completely customized treatment plan to help overcome your individual challenges, meet your needs and achieve your goals. They will recommend a course of preventative or corrective actions that will help you get back to a productive daily routine after you have suffered a debilitating injury or illness. Our occupational therapists will also recommend other therapies and specialized programs that can help you, such as:

  • Physiotherapy
  • Kinesiology
  • Massage Therapy
  • Intramuscular stimulation
  • Psychology
  • Fall prevention programs
  • Return to work programs

  • IADL assessment to determine if assistance is needed to complete other activities of daily living (grocery shopping, cleaning, commuting in the community)
  • Falls risk assessment to reduce risk of falls by implementing strategies and provide equipment
  • Home assessment and home modifications after injury
  • Assess clients for need to do other therapy for full recovery; specifically, assess client to determine need for physiotherapy, counselling, kinesiology, massage therapy and write justification letter to submit to lawyers and insurance companies
  • Monitor clients in their rehabilitation to assess if more sessions (physiotherapy, counselling, kinesiology etc.) are required
  • Liaise with the clients’ therapists to ensure services are addressing clients’ needs
  • Assess clients for any other needed equipment and write justification letter for the need to submit to lawyers and insurance companies
