Clinical Application of Therapeutic Ultrasound in Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation and Sport Injuries
February 22, 2020 - February 23, 2020$120.75 – $204.75
Sunday February 22 – 23, 2019 (8:30 am- 5:15 pm)
This one-day course is highly recommended to those rehabilitation professionals who wish to benefit from the therapeutic effects of Ultrasound (US), working with clients suffering from musculoskeletal and sport injuries. It covers both theoretical and practical aspects of therapeutic application of US in Rehabilitation. The course goes through introducing the US machine and its different applicators, the physical principles of US beam generation, and the different treatment parameters of US application based on desired clinical effects (control of pain and inflammation, promoting tissue healing, etc.). Then, it focuses on various biophysical and therapeutic effects of US on cellular, tissue and organ levels as an effective modality in musculoskeletal rehabilitation and sport injuries.
The indications, contraindications and precautions of therapeutic ultrasound application are discussed in more detail with appropriate examples and case scenarios. This part also summarizes the clinical decision making process of US application in rehabilitation setting.
The practical part includes supervised practice in small groups using machine and transducers, with different techniques of application and various kinds of couplants (water, gel, etc.) in order to deliver the US beam (energy) into different body parts and for a wide variety of clinical conditions.
Course incorporated both theory and practical components including: instruction, group discussion, research review, case scenarios and practical techniques.
