A Myofascial Network Approach to Assessment and Treatment of Postural Mal-alignment and its Associated Pain

February 1, 2020 - February 2, 2020

$183.75 – $362.25

Saturday Feb 1, 2020 (2:30 pm- 6:30 pm)    &    Sunday Feb 2, 2020 (8:30 am- 5:10 pm)

Course Description:

This course focuses on the significance of the myofascial network in the development and support of normal posture. Fascial neurophysiologic properties and its adaptation to loading, posture, movement, pain and emotion in addition to its biomechanical characteristics in load transmission will be discussed. It also outlines postural abnormalities most commonly correlated with patterns of muscle imbalance in the myofascial tensional system which may lead to pain, impairment or disability over the long term.

Assessment methods utilizing observation and palpation skills will be taught to determine possible patterns of postural mal-alignment (including upper crossed syndrome, lower crossed syndrome and whole body mixed torsional mal-alignments) and their accompanying respiratory dysfunctions. Based on the type and severity of any identified postural abnormalities and the neurophysiologic principles and biomechanical properties of myofascial tensional network, the most appropriate therapeutic interventions among myofascial release techniques along with corrective exercises will be instructed and practiced accordingly.
